I adore all of the rich, beautiful tradition that is incorporated into the Nikah ceremony, it just speaks to generations of love and life and happiness. I think us human beings become more rooted and grounded when traditions are passed on like this, and what could be a better way to start your new life together than having your friends and family lavish flowers and gifts and honour upon you.
