When we arrived at Mike's house, everyone was gathered around the first belle of the ball - the super sexy Lamborghini that was parked in Mike's driveway. It's hard not to have a good start to your wedding day when you get to drive this baby to the church!
Mike left the guys drooling on the driveway and went off to the real belle of the ball, Sonia. Sonia and her girls were bustling around, putting the finishing touches on. Sonia looked drop-dead gorgeous, her wedding gown fit her beautiful silhouette to a tee - it's probably one of my favourite dresses I've seen. I love the swathes of fabric around the bodice and the delicate lace overlay.
Next, we were off to St Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic church. The ceremony was gorgeous, rich in tradition and reverence.
This next series just shows how in love these two are. I mean, look at the adorably cute secret looks these two share!
For the formal-ish part of the day, Sonia & Mike decided to take advantage of our awesome studio, located at 270 Sherman Ave N in Hamilton. The industrial grittiness offers a fantastic juxtaposition between the softness of the wedding party and the harshness of the architecture.
I don't often show a lot of posed family or group shots as we really do concentrate mostly on documenting the moments as they happen, but I love the way these ones turned out.
Just before we headed over to Michaelangelo's for the reception, the bridal party launched into a champagne fight - mostly aimed at Mike!
And off to the reception!
I love all the different traditions that our couples have, but I really wish I was Ukrainian so that I could have one of these incredible Korovai. I adore the little bread love birds!
Mike & Sonia had a ton of fun at their reception. There was competitive garter-grabbing...
And then they played a game where the bridesmaids had to roll a cold hardboiled egg along the groomsmens leg, inside their pants...tee hee.
We wish Mike & Sonia the very best - we know they'll have a beautiful life together!
